Sending prayers to Dario Franchitti on a speedy recovery after his scary crash at the conclusion of today’s Grand Prix of Houston.

Thankfully, according to Chip Ganassi, Dario was awake and alert and that “he’ll be OK.” No other word on the extent of injuries has been given yet.

Top Gear Magazine Destroyed the Mazda Furai
There aren’t many details yet aside from the merged together before & after photo and a brief statement from the Top Gear team;

"Forgive us, for we have sinned. Top Gear is responsible for the untimely demise of the quite remarkable Mazda Furai Concept, and we’re very, very sorry. Find out how (if that picture hasn’t clued you in…) in our bumper anniversary issue, and try not to hate us too much.”

Phillip Smalley Set to Make JEGS/CRA Debut

*Press Release via Phillip Smalley Racing*

Waterford, Michigan (Thursday, August 8, 2013): The running of the Silver Bullet 100 this Saturday, August 10, 2013 will be a memorable one for Southeast Michigan native Phillip Smalley, as he will be making his JEGS/CRA All Stars Tour presented by Chevrolet Performance debut at the Auto City Speedway in Clio, MI.

“This has been my dream since I was 5 years old, I’ve worked hard to get here and I am very excited about the opportunity,” said the 21-year old Michigan driver.

Smalley has spent his summer racing at tracks around Michigan. He is also a member of JEGS/CRA championship contending team, Dan Leeck Racing from Birch Run, Michigan.

“The goal for Saturday is to see the checkered flag and keep the car in one piece. Although it’s only 45 minutes from home, I’ve never raced at Auto City Speedway, so I am facing many of the same challenges as the JEGS/CRA regulars,” Smalley added.

Smalley continued, “I have so many people to thank that have made this possible. Thank you Dan, Tom, Jordan, Matt, Kyle, Caleb & Jacob for all your hard work and support and of course thank you to my parents for allowing me to chase my dream”.

Smalley and his Phillip Smalley Racing team will field a Black #22 Chevrolet Impala Saturday Night in the “Silver Bullet 100” with support from Business Perspectives Online, Barney Betka Music, Mr. Asphalt, FLF Race Cars, & M.P.H Promotions. Sending my best wishes to Tony Stewart this morning, who broke his leg in two spots in a sprint car race in Iowa last night. It is inevitable that he will not race this weekend at Watkins Glen; a replacement driver has yet to be named. Also, keep in mind that he currently has the 11th spot in the standings, which is the first Wild Card for the Chase, so his chances of making the Chase at this point are very slim.
